These bodhrans have a single bar on the back, and a leather strip around the outside at the edge, under the tacks. The skin (also called the head) is goatskin. A knob beater (also called a tipper) comes with each. The wood rim is 3 5/8" deep on the 18" bodhrans.

The skins on these bodhrans may be mottled, as they are real animal skin.

Boxed Bodhran Sets from Waltons

Clonmachnois Celtic Design 18" Bodhran Boxed Set

WB2. This attractive boxed set contains everything for the beginning bodhran player: bodhran (tacked head), beater (tipper), DVD tutor and zippered black nylon carrying case.  The CD by Connor Long contains an introduction to playing and caring for your bodhran: holding the bodhran, holding the stick, basic strokes, getting the best sound from your bodhran, basic 4/4 reel, basic 6/8 jig, basic hornpipe, bodhran care and maintenance, and exercises to allow for the most effective practice sessions. What a nice gift for the aspiring bodhran player! This is the same boxed set as for the WB1 below, except that the bodhran has a beautiful red-and-green Celtic design as shown in the photo at left. If you look carefully, you realize that the design is four elves in the shape of a cross, with Celtic intertwining artwork joining them together. The bodhran has a brown rim of standard depth. $85

18" and 16" Plain Bodhrans

WB3A. Tacked plain 18" goatskin bodhran. Single bar on the back, standard 3 1/2" rim depth. Knob beater (tipper) included. Here in the U.S., this is the standard bodhran size, seen most often. Choice of medium reddish brown (shown at left) or classic dark brown (shown below) color of rim. $55

WB3B. Tacked plain 16" goatskin bodhran, reddish brown as shown. Single bar on the back, standard 3 1/2" rim depth. Beater included. This size has become very popular, both here and in Ireland. $54

Bodhrans with Screened Pictures

The tacked 18" bodhrans shown below have beautiful Celtic images screened onto goatskin; we think they would make great wall art, as well as musical instruments. These bodhrans have a single bar on the back, and come with a knob beater (tipper). This is the same bodhran as the WB2 plain 18" bodhran above.

Please note: if you play on the screened areas, especially with the beaters, this will leave marks on the design. These bodhrans  admittedly are more often hung for decoration and played infrequently.

Guinness Oval Label Bodhran

WB4. The traditional Guinness oval label design. Black rim and leather edging strip. 18" diameter, standard rim depth. Beater included. $75

Celtic Cross Bodhran

WB5. A beautiful Celtic cross with intricate Celtic interweaving design decorates this 18" tacked bodhran. Green/gold design. (The picture does not do the colors justice.) Reddish rim, dark brown leather edging strip. Beater included. $60

High-Quality Tunable Waltons Bodhrans

These are really nice bodhrans! Aged oak finish, goatskin, 5" deep overall, black leatherlike strip around edge has imprinted Celtic design. Nails are antiqued brass with pyramid-shaped top. Single removable bar on back. Arm cutout. Comes with green cloth bag for beater and wrench. Two sizes available:
