The lowest note is F above middle C, and the highest note is the C that is 2 1/2 octaves higher. 23" long overall, rosewood body with mahogany soundboard. Made in Pakistan. With rosewood bow and tuning key as shown. $160   Note: the psaltery that we currently have has a cutout rosette on the soundboard. The heart as shown is no longer available.

 

PS4A. Carrying case:  black heavy-duty nylon quilted fabric, with a zipper along one side, carrying handles, and a small zippered pocket.  $27.

Psaltery Bows and Resin

We offer extra bows in the two styles shown below. Some players use two bows at the same time. Like a violin bow, these need to be well resined to make any sound.

Plucked Psaltery

ap626081.jpg (13056 bytes)PS7. This is a historical reproduction instrument designed by the Early Music Shoppe. Trapezoidal in shape with curved sides, it is sometimes called a "pigsnout." It has 22 steel strings tuned from low C to high C. Rosewood body, spruce soundboard, brass bridges. Historic illustrations show the player holding it with the narrow end pointed downwards, or resting on the lap; it can be plucked with the fingers, a quill or a plectrum. Included is a tuning tool and quilted nylon case with shoulder carrying strap. $145
