Traditional Welsh Wool Purses and Placemats

These items are made of the jacquard-woven wool fabric that is called Welsh tapestry. These are traditional patterns from a woolen mill in Wales. This is a durable fabric that never seems to get dirty, and lasts forever.

Purses: We show the main colors that we received in this shipment; there are in addition a few assorted odd colors (we regret that we will be unable to produce photographs of the ones not shown). We currently have two sizes:

WG1A. Double purse, 5" wide by 3 1/2" deep. $15

WG1B. Glasses case, snap closing, fabric lined. Great for carrying your sunglasses in your handbag. 7" high overall, 3 1/2" wide at bottom. $12

Dragon Placemat and Coaster Set

New! WG2. This is a set of four placemats and 8 matching coasters. The placemats are 11 1/2 x 8 3/4"; the coasters are 4 1/4" square. Smooth finish. Set $13

Decorative Wales Plate

WG3. This unusual, intricately designed "Wales" plate with a highly raised design looks as if it was carved from wood and then stained walnut brown. In fact, it is made of unbreakable heavy cast resin. A Welsh costumed harpist plays (with good hand position!) in a field, with a ram listening , a streamlet and daffodils at her feet, and cottage and hills in the background. Two fine dragons and two well-executed lovespoons decorate the outer edges. Hanging hook on back. 9 1/2" diameter. $25

Bronzed Dragon Plaque

WG4. Bronzed raised-design dragon plaque has Celtic interlace edging. This is a quality heavy piece, made of resin. Size: 7" wide x 5" high, about 5/8" thick. Comes in a nice gift box.This piece would look wonderful in a front hall. $35 We have one of these left.

Dragon Slate Clock

WG5A. Small slate clock. This clock looks much like the larger clock below, but has only a dragon in the center, and the numbers are not Roman numerals. Size: 6" in diameter. Gift boxed; clock is shown in bottom of the box (there is also a lid). Runs on a standard battery (not included). $32.

Dragon/Daffodils Slate Clock

WG5B. Large Slate clock. This is a Welsh slate disk with a red dragon and daffodil decal in the center. The clock works are attached at the back; clock runs on standard battery (not included). Boxed. Made in Wales. 9" in diameter. $40.

Dragon and Alarm Clocks

New! WG5C. This large round colorful resin plastic clock has numbers that can be seen from right across the room. Diameter: 12 inches. Takes a standard clock battery (not included). Comes in an equally attractive dragon box. $30

New! WG5D. Round plastic desk clock has an ell-shaped wire on the back so that the clock will sit on its own. Takes a standard clock battery, not included. 3 3/4" diameter. Comes in an attractive dragon box. Only $5.

WG5E. Welsh flag alarm clock face is 2 3/4" square. Red plastic, with second hand and alarm set hand. The alarm shutoff moves up and down at the top for easy turn-off. "Cymru" is Welsh for "Wales." $12

Welsh Dragon Mugs

WG6A. This plastic dragon mug will keep drinks hot or cold. We show front and back views. The dragon design on the side of the mug is raised, not smooth. Regular mug size, about 3 3/4" high. $8

WG6B. This mug was produced as a special item for a harp school in Wales. "Telynau Morgannwg" is the name of the school; there is an outline of a pedal harp on the other side. The color is actually cobalt blue, although the camera makes it look purple. On the bottom it reads: The Welsh Beaker Company. Made in Wales." We also have one black mug like this. $12

Welsh Dragon Watches
These make an attractive gift, and what can be more Welsh than a dragon on your wrist? These all have second hands, and come with battery.

WG7A. Pocket watch on sturdy 12" fob chain with hook to attach to your pocket. There is a Welsh flag on the lid (far left), opens to show watch face. $18

WG7B. This watch has an adjustable fabric strap with Velcro closing ("Cymru" is Welsh for "Wales"). The overall diameter of the circle is 1 3/8", slightly smaller than the one shown below. Packaged as shown. $15

WG7D. This watch has a synthetic leather red/green strap with buckle closing. Outer diameter of circle is 1 1/3". Comes in a dragon box like that shown below. $18

WG7E. Cuff watch has a rectangular flag face that is 7/8" x 5/8"within a silver-colored frame that is 1 1/4" square. The 1" wide flexible cuff opens wider to put the watch on and then springs back into the position shown. Please specify red or white cuff. Comes in a dragon box like that shown above. $18

Carved Plaques of Welsh Mythology

We have only a couple each of the handcarved wooden plaques shown at left. Each one is about  5 3/4" high x 2 3/4" wide. Some are dark wood and some are lighter.

WG8A (far left). Pryderi and his pigs from the otherworld. Pryderi refuses to trade them to Gwydon the sorceror for fine stallions and hunting dogs. $20

WG8B (immediate left). King Arthur. The mortally wounded Arthur is taken by the ladies to the Isle of Avalon to be cured of his wounds and await his country's call. $20

Wales Flask

WG9. Traditional flask has a Welsh flag inset. This item is designed to carry alcoholic drinks, and should not be used for acid beverages such as fruit juices. Comes with instructions for use. Stainless steel, 6 oz capacity. 4 1/2" high overall, 3 3/4" wide. Cheers! $33

Tall Dragon Hat

WG10A. This glitter tall hat has a dragon on both the front and back. We call it our "answering hat." Made of light-weight materials. 7" high overall. One size, fits adults. $9

Dragon Cowboy Hat

WG11B. Glitter cowboy hat has a cord that ties under your chin. Made of plastic covered all over in glitter. One size, normal adult. You can really cut a noticeable figure at the next Welsh event when you wear this! $8

WG11. Feather boa, 6 feet long, in the Welsh colors of course. Great fun for parties! $8

Dragon Sunglasses

WG12. These are definitely the coolest sunglasses in town. When people look at you, they see a red dragon on a green-and-white background. When you wear them, you don't see the design, only a bit of speckle that doesn't get in the way of your vision. One size. $9

Fold-Up Dragon Umbrella

WG13. You can see this dragon in the next block! Standard-size umbrella tells the world that you are Welsh! Folds up as shown below. $15

Dragon Golf or Beach Umbrella

WG14. Welsh dragon beach umbrella. Red, green and white panels, with a dragon on each of the four white panels. Under each dragon are the words "Wales-Cymru" printed in green. ("Cymru" is Welsh for Wales.) When open, this umbrella is 52" straight across (the arc measurement over the top is 59"). $22
